i know some other people don't like it when nonhuman characters in fiction act as a metaphor for autism and other disabilities... but all honesty in my opinion that metaphor slaps. "shapeshifter who has to mask who they are because they feel like their real self won't be accepted" "monster who doesn't fit in with society and is self-loathing about it" "robot who doesn't understand how people work" "alien who is confused by the rules of the societies around them" real

Always confused me when people said this was problematic. Like sure more human representation is cool cause people obviously want that but also I feel so much more represented when the autism metaphor is a creature or monster of some sort. Altho maybe I'm just otherkin lmao

honestly, yeah! i have nothing against people who personally don't like it, and i can see why they don't, but i don't think there's anything wrong with reclaiming it either. i think it's very interesting and i relate a lot to it.
